[TONIGHT 3/31] NYC-DSA Protests Billionaire Budget Outside Bloomberg Townhouse

Campaigns will call out Governor Hochul for letting billionaires like Bloomberg buy a state budget that should prioritize the needs of working New Yorkers.

NEW YORK, NY — In the wake of Governor Hochul confirming the State Budget will not be on time, the Invest in Our New York and Tax the Rich campaigns will call out Michael Bloomberg’s attempt to influence the state budget process. Governor Hochul has made it clear she’s more than willing to protect and increase the wealth of her ultra-rich donors, while prioritizing their pet projects and policies. Hochul’s favoritism of her billionaire supporters means New York will now have a late budget, and communities will not get the resources they need. The campaigns will call out Hochul’s deference to her billionaire donors and her lack of support for working-class New Yorkers.

About Invest in Our New York
Invest in Our New York (IONY) is a state-wide coalition fighting to rebuild the state’s economy by ending tax breaks for the wealthy. After achieving a series of revenue-raising victories in 2021, IONY is calling on the Governor and State Legislature to go even further in unrigging New York’s tax policies to generate more public funds and invest in early childhood education, universal childcare, higher education, social housing, and climate justice programs as a common-sense approach to driving economic growth and building broader prosperity in New York.
